BORNO STATE GOVERNMENT IMPOSES 24-HOUR CURFEW FOLLOWING IED ATTACK AND VIOLENT PROTESTS

The Borno State government has swiftly enacted a 24-hour curfew across the state, effective immediately, in response to a recent surge in violence. This decisive measure follows a tragic improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Konduga, which claimed the lives of 16 individuals and left several others critically injured.

In an official statement, State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Kenneth Daso announced the curfew, emphasizing that Governor Babagana Zulum has been actively consulting with the heads of security agencies in the state. The governor is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and security of all residents.

The unrest has been exacerbated by a wave of protests in parts of the metropolis, which have unfortunately turned violent. The state government is urging all residents to remain calm and law-abiding throughout the duration of the curfew, as authorities work to restore order and prevent further violence.

This incident marks a troubling time for Borno State, underscoring the critical need for peace and security. The government has called on the community to cooperate fully with law enforcement and adhere to the curfew, as efforts are intensified to address the situation and support those affected by the tragic events.
